Fitness glamour Photoshoot

I had the pleasure of photographing Kristy in my studio this summer. Kristy booked a fitness glamour shoot (one of my most popular photoshoots). This was intended to document this time in her life when she had worked so hard achieving her goals.

Before the day of the shoot, I phoned Kristy and we discussed her goals for these photos and what type of backgrounds and outfits she wanted to choose, Kristy took the time to look at my previous work and decide on colour palettes for her online platform and social media content.

On the day Kristy had a fantastic makeup artist @xfayemuax to apply her beautiful studio makeup. Whilst faye applied Kristys make-up, we had time to talk about Kristy’s work life and future goals and her enthusiasm to help others. This is what she said:

My name is Kristy gunning and I’m currently here to have a shoot with the incredible and very talented Laura skye.

I am a personal trainer and also teach Pole fitness at a gym called Just train based in Staines. I have been a PT/Pole instructor now for over 5 years, and still learning along the way. I believe you never stop learning if you have passion and love for something. I absolutely love my job helping people reach there goals. The best feeling in the world is when my clients start to gain self confidence which in turn changes their mindset.

Being a pole instructor means I am constantly improving myself and my knowledge to be on top form. To do this I have two weekly lessons with Sarah who owns @thepolestudio.

My future goals are to one day hopefully step on stage competing in body building shows. There's a few shows that I would like to do.

It would be a dream of mine to become a @WBBFPRO. My beautiful coach @KateLinsell who has been helping me reach my dreams is my inspiration and someone I look up to. She's a beautiful person and I'm so happy to be part of her team.

My other inspiration is my girl @AbbeyWillis she's been part of my journey helping me with my posing sessions to be the best I can on stage.

A Vintage Romance

The Talbot Inn Ripley - A coaching inn from the 15th century dates back to 1453 and it is situated on the Old Portsmouth Road, one of the most important routes from London to Portsmouth on the south coast. Due to its location, it became one of Lord Nelson’s posts he often visited and it is said that it is where his love affair with Lady Hamilton flourished. Erica & Charles wanted a venue with a story, one that could perfectly reflect their vintage romance. Therefore, since The Talbot still conserves many of its original features from its 500 year history, it was the perfect setting.

Their love story is one that survived through long distance and all of the letters they sent to each other whilst apart made their love even stronger. Erica reminisced their relationship as she got ready and wrote Charles a very special letter, and of course, Charles did the same. After all, this had become something meaningful for both of them.

For their ceremony, Faux Blooms designed a floral arch that would serve as a beautiful backdrop. One that used some of Erica’s favourite flowers: hydrangea and crimson red dahlias. As an autumn inspired wedding, Faux Bloom opted to also add delicate rich green lace ferns with mottled pheasant feather to create the perfect look. To match their theme, Charles wore a suit that was perfectly tailored by Norton & Townsend and matched it with an old-school fedora that emphasised his natural curls. To complete the bridal look, Liz Patey styled her hair with light curls and gave her a natural make up look with dark cherry lips.

As the day went by and they celebrated their love, 504 - Events styled their ceremony and their dinner set up using a silver candelabrum as a statement piece and worked with Faux Blooms to create a candle-lit, romantic dinner surrounded by flowers. To complement their dinner, Good Cake Day created a fabulous 2 tiered cake and made use of ruffles, lace and pearls which perfectly matched the Brides dress by Adi Shlomo Bridal.

Laura Skye and Mark Brooks were able to document Erica & Charles professing their love for each other and celebrated in the very same seats that Lord Nelson once share with Lady Emma Hamilton.

Rustic Wedding - a british Countryside →

When asked to envision their dream wedding, what came to Charlie & Ivana’s mind

was the thought of a blend of rustic, bohemian, and British countryside. I pictured Ivana

walking down the aisle by pampas grass effortlessly swaying in the wind while Charlie would

be waiting for her under a floral adorned wooden wedding arch.

In order to bring this bohemian fantasy to life, I had the idyllic backdrop in mind:

Lillibrooke Manor, a 15-acre estate located just outside of London. The Great Barn made the

perfect home for a picturesque candle-lit dinner delicately illuminated by the rays of the setting

sun. The decor was inspired by Ivana’s favourite flowers, cabbage roses, and Charlie’s

preference for earthy tones. Fleur de la Couture, the florists, brought their vision to life

through the design of the floral arrangements. The contrast created by the structured wooden

beams and elegant decor brought elements of rustic and bohemian flare. All of these elements

came together in the creation of an enhanced barn with accents of gold found in the name

cards, candelabras and tableware.

Through visual storytelling, the photographer, Laura Skye, succeeded in narrating the

couple’s intimate wedding via a series of frames through which she was able to capture the

essence of their romance and the whimsical setting of the barn. The bride selected her dress

from the Evie Young Bridal Collection featured by Tala Daniel Bridal Boutique, which

perfectly blends an elegant yet country-chic look and showcases a detailed pattern of ivory

lace over a latte, dusty pastel pink. Her look was completed by a gentle make-up that

accentuated her natural facial features pairing it with a hairstyle that boasts her natural curls.

The groom opted for a minimalist look tailored by Harry Brown Menswear: a black coloured

suit with an unbuttoned white shirt and a buttonhole featuring white ruscus and piumetta

flowers. To memorialise this event, Mark Brooks, the videographer, put together a short film

that captures the collection of elements that went into fulfilling Charlie & Ivana’s vision of their

bohemian countryside wedding.

As their wedding planner, I incorporated the couple’s rustic and bohemian style through the

use of various elements of lighting, floral decor and design. With every wedding, I prioritise

the story my clients wish to tell and assemble the best team of professionals to assist me.

Estelle came to my studio for some relaxed portraits last week. We kept them simplistic but beautiful. Portraits always look fantastic when they are relaxed and concentrating on your natural beauty.

We had a lovely walk today with a great family and there pups. The beautiful great dane Katie and little Konia who was a rescue from cyprus, becky his owner actually bought him back after living out there for 6 months. Two beautiful dogs, very different but both so loving.
